I was looking through some old photos that Jai had backed up on a flash drive when I found this one from New Year’s Eve 2004. I used to host LAN parties every New Year’s, where all my friends would come over for a fun night of gaming. Jai would hook up multiple PCs and my friends would also bring their console systems so there was a wide selection of games to play. It was always a blast – I’ll never forget one year when there was a perfectly timed PAC-MAN death that happened at the stroke of midnight!
My contribution was always my SNES, pictured above. It was way outdated in 2004, and it still remains the only console I own. It’s not that we don’t like to game – clearly, we do! – but Jai is mostly focused on computer gaming, and I’ve just never gotten around to getting a newer system. One of these days, I will, but I’ve also been stuck on the same level of Yoshi’s Island for close to ten years, so I really ought to beat that before I move on. 😉
Still, I’m not 100% out of touch. Because I’m on so many media mailing lists, I will sometimes get promo copies of new games for editorial consideration. I pass these on as gifts to my more up-to-date gamer friends! I’ve never gotten any SNES games, although there IS actually a new game being released for that console this year so I fully expect a review copy once it becomes available. 😉 I have, however, been getting some cute games for DS, the modern version of my Gameboy. There’s been a few this year based on Dreamworks films, like The Croods: Prehistoric Party!
What gaming consoles do you have in your house?
I got rid of them when I moved this last time, but we had Nintendo, SNES, Xbox, Xbox 360, Sega Genesis, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 1, 2 and now 3. Geez, when I type it all out, it’s kinda frightening.
We have the Wii and xbox that’s it.
I love the picture of the SNES with the DS game in it. My kids will get a kick out of it.

We have NO gamesystems in the house right now. The last one was a PS2.

Way, way too many! PS2, PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS 3D, Nintendo DS, GameCube (yeah we’re about as outdated as you are with that one too!). 4 computers (and there are only 3 of us, what the…). We’re kind of into gaming, can you tell?!
I have an original nintendo hiding somewhere in my garage.
Oh this photo made me smile I use to love my Nintendo! We have three Xbox 360 in our house. My husbands, and my sons each have one. For the record I only bought one of them. I won the other one on one of those codes on a Dr. Pepper bottle.
Oh yeah we have two old XBox (the original) but we use them as DVD players not as a gaming system.
Oops forgot we have a Wii but we rarely play it anymore, the kinect is so much better.
Oh my gosh, this made me laugh! My sons are actually way ahead of my technologically, it’s embarassing.
We don’t have any. This reminded me of the year my brother and I were all excited we got a Pong game for Christmas and thought it was the most fantastic thing ever.
In that time, I only had PBR and VHS. Then, I was not a kinda gaming guy.
I finally ditched the VCR a few years ago, but the Atari and Nintendo 360 game systems are long gone. Yes, I am old enough for Atari. LOL
We’ve got an Xbox, a Wii and an old school Sega Genesis.
That is too funny! The only console I have ever owned myself was N64, which I got for Christmas when I was 8. We have a Wii & Xbox 360 but those are my husband’s.
We actually still have a few old consoles. My 9 year old loves the gamecube.
I’m a tad behind. I currently have a Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSi, PS2, and XBox 360. I’m considering on getting a newer PlayStation because of the better game selection, for me, at least – I mostly get into survival horror and psychological thrillers. 🙂

LOL — I was NEVER good at games … even DuckHunt (yes, I’m dating myself) was beyond me! We have a Wii but don’t use it for games.
That looks like my son’s room! He still has an old TV, VCR, Nintendo, Sega Genesis and all the other game systems. He thinks they’re better than the new ones and he refuses to upgrade.
