Summer Blur

Summer Blur

Over the last few days, I’ve been to Seattle, Orcas Island, and Issaquah; and I’m only home for one more day before Jai and I head out on the road once more for a blogger event I am hosting in Portland on Friday. It’s been a full month of work, travel, family celebrations, and more things than I can really keep track of. That picture above? Those are my to-do lists. The planner on the right-hand side shows what was on my agenda for just 3 days. Jai looked at my list and said, “Geeze, I should take a picture of this because it’s so crazy!” When I was looking through my hundreds of trip photos to decide which one to use for this post, I thought this one was the most appropriate. I added the blur filter because I figured the whole world didn’t need to read every single detail of my daily schedule, and I also think it adds the appropriate feel to represent summer 2013.

I have so many fun, crazy stories to share soon from all of my August adventures – and I’d love to hear yours! What have you been up to this month?

Family Reunion Flashback

Jai and Beeb - 2003

On Saturday, Jai and I drove down to Milwaukie for his family’s annual reunion. Every year, I look forward to hanging out with everybody and seeing relatives who live out of state. After we got home, I realized that this is the 10th reunion since Jai and I started dating – wow! I found this photo from the first of his family reunions that I ever attended back in 2003. Time flies when you’re having fun!

Busy, Busy, Busy

I’ve had so much going on over the last week, and yet, there isn’t a lot to talk about because it’s all pretty mundane. I could talk about the emails and articles that I wrote, the proposals I drafted, or the photo editing that I did, but that would be the most boring read ever. When you’re self-employed, it’s easy for a week to pass without even leaving the house – not that I advise doing that, but when you’re in the middle of expanding your business as I am, it’s just a part of life. All the hard work I’ve been doing this summer is already paying off, and this crazy schedule is only temporary while I balance the extra workload that accompanies re-branding and launching new sites.

I guess I know my week sounds boring when my big news was emailing my dad to tell him that, due to an shipping error with an online order I placed, I had gotten some free toilet paper. In my defense, it was 192 rolls of free toilet paper so that’s kind of a big deal to Super Coupon Girl.

That's a lot of toilet paper.

That’s close to 400 rolls of toilet paper in my living room. I only ordered two boxes, but they sent 4 by mistake. I emailed them immediately to let them know, and they told me not to worry about it and to keep the extra. Talk about good customer service. I’m sure the other coupon clippers here will appreciate this…

Although I didn’t get out of the house much last week, that was totally fine with me. Next month, we will be in either Portland or Seattle almost every single weekend for a variety of events, so I am taking advantage of this relatively calm week to prepare for all the traveling we’ll be doing.

Attack of The Birds

On our way to Eugene last month, Jai and I pulled over at a rest area. As I headed back from the restroom, Jai opened his car door and waved his arm at me. I knew he was trying to get my attention about something so I stopped walking and gave him a puzzled look. He was trying to give me a heads-up about this:

Attack bird

As Jai sat in the car, he watched this bird swoop down and dive-bomb every person that walked by; he realized what was happening when he saw people swatting at their heads. Why, you ask?

Baby birds

Because this nest of adorable baby birds was nearby!

This picture gives you an idea of how close this nest was to the parked cars. With people walking back and forth all day, these birds are going to have their work cut out for them patrolling the nest.
