Attack of The Birds

On our way to Eugene last month, Jai and I pulled over at a rest area. As I headed back from the restroom, Jai opened his car door and waved his arm at me. I knew he was trying to get my attention about something so I stopped walking and gave him a puzzled look. He was trying to give me a heads-up about this:

Attack bird

As Jai sat in the car, he watched this bird swoop down and dive-bomb every person that walked by; he realized what was happening when he saw people swatting at their heads. Why, you ask?

Baby birds

Because this nest of adorable baby birds was nearby!

This picture gives you an idea of how close this nest was to the parked cars. With people walking back and forth all day, these birds are going to have their work cut out for them patrolling the nest.

  1. Okay! I’m terrified of birds!! Last week they were trying to attack me too! While walking to lunch with my friend…one literally tried to fly into my face. I had to duck for cover. Then at my office…it flew straight into my window. I’m terrifiedddddd of birds!

  2. My house has a ton of trees and shrubbery (does anyone else think that word in a Monty Python voice?) around it, and without fail every year, some jerk bird decides to build a nest RIGHT next to where I park my car and take my dog out to pee, which ends up with us getting divebombed and nervously watching the skies. I hate spring for that reason alone.

  3. I think it’s the bird’s defense mechanism to people since its nest is just nearby. Oh my, I haven’t been attacked by a bird yet. I guess I’m scared too. Did you got in the car peacefully? I hope you did. Take care!

  4. I’ve seen this happen before. I guess your just have to watch out for these birds because they are only doing what comes naturally to them 🙂

  5. Ha I would have run screaming if a bird dive bombed me…and hopefully not tinkled my pants while doing so.

  6. The thought of this bird swooping down on everyone made me smile. Smile because the mother in me SOOO approves of her protective nature. Sorry to the passer bys.
